The Texas Rangers took an early lead 2-0 in the top of the first. The San Francisco Giants knocked in one run in the bottom of the 2nd to pull with in 1 run of the Rangers. Again the Giants got a runner on base and were able to get some hits to tie to game up at 2. After two innings of play the game was tied at two runs apiece, until the Giants explosive bottom of the 5th.
All the pain for the Rangers in the 5th started with a 1 out double by Andres Torres. Freddy Sanchez then doubled scoring Torres to take the lead for the Giants 3-2. Buster Posey was called out on strikes, 2 outs for the Giants. Pat Burrell walked making it 2 runners on base for the Giants. Cody Ross singled to center field scoring Sanchez. Aubrey Huff singled into center field again scoring Burrell. The Giants now lead 5-2 over the Rangers and things aren't looking good for Cliff Lee. Ron Washington the Rangers manager makes the pitching change, Darren O'Day comes into pitch. O'Day threw two outside sliders to Juan Uribe, then he came back inside with a 86 mph fastball. With two runners on base, Uribe turned on the fastball and crushed the ball into the stands extending the lead to 8-2 for the Giants. That would conclude all the scoring for the Giants in the 5th inning.
The first two batters for the Rangers in the top of the 6th struck out. The third batter was Ian Kinlser who walked. The next batter Bengie Molina doubled scoring Kinlser to pull the Rangers within 5 runs. Molina advanced to third base and a deflected line drive by the pitcher Tim Lincecum. David Murphy singled into right field to score Molina, to make the score 8-4 Giants.
No more scoring happened until the bottom of the 8th inning. Edgar Renteria singled to right field, but advanced to 3rd on Vladamir Guerrero's fielding error. Travis Ishikawa doubled on a line drive to left field scoring Renteria. Torres poped out to the Rangers third basemen to make it 1 out in the inning. Freddy Sanchez singled into right field scoring Ishikawa, but Guerrero made another fielding error letting Sanchez advance to 2nd. Buster Posey grounded out, then Nate Schierholtz hit a line drive to center fielder Josh Hamilton. That would conclude the Giants scoring in the bottom of the 8th making their lead 11-4.
The Rangers made it a closer game by scoring 3 runs in the top of the ninth. That would conclude the World Series Game 1.
Final score: Giants 11 Rangers 7
