Its official Michael Vick is Back!

Michael Vick has taken the NFL by storm; he is a potential MVP candidate and the most exciting player to watch in the NFL. He had 6 combined touchdowns in Monday Night football this week, and his performance is said to be a top 5 ever by a quarterback. People forget that football players are just regular people that deserve a second chance in life. Michael Vick went to jail for 2 years, he lost everything, his career, his family, his possessions, his money and the life he worked for. Still people sent him hate mail and called him a cold blooded killer, day in day out he took it, never complaining, never giving up, and never backing down. Sure there were probably days when it was too much, days that it felt like he would be disgraced and hated forever. Michaels parents had him when they were teenagers, they had to work hard to support the family. Michael Vick didn’t have it easy as a kid; he grew up in a cruel dark town with regular drive-by shootings and drug deals. His parents weren’t at home much, both worked 2 jobs. Michaels only escape from the hood and his life was athletics. He excelled in all sports and people knew he was special. He made it to college football and later was the 1^st pick in the 2001 NFL draft. Michael was a great athlete and played quarterback like no one had ever seen. He had never had money so when he signed that big contract he bought what he thought rich people were supposed to have; big houses and fancy cars. He was playing on a fairly bad team but made do with what he had. His career was going great until in 2007 he was convicted of dog fighting. He was sent to prison for 2 years and filed for bankruptcy after all his sponsors and his salary was taken away. Yes dog fighting is a very serious crime, Michael Vick had been funding the dog fighting ring for a while. Now what most people don’t understand is that part of the poor southern ghetto culture is dog fighting, people down there don’t think twice about it, its always been done, its just another way to gamble. When I was in Kentucky during the spring a man showed me his prize fighting dog like it was a prize possession. Dog fighting is bad to us “civilized” people but down south it’s just as common as having a barbeque with the neighbors, friends and family come to see if the dog they bet on will win. This is not right but it is the way it is, if you want to change it go ahead. Now that I’ve explained how dog fighting is bad, did you ever think about the things everyone does that isn’t actually moral? If you go eat veal at a fancy restaurant with your family that’s just fine; eating a baby cow is not a bad thing? I suppose its just food for us “civilized” people. Well I say that Michael Vick has paid for his crime and deserves to play football just as much as a painter deserves to paint again after he is released from prison. I hope that people can just forgive others just as they wish they could be forgiven if they were in the same situation. So here’s to Michael Vick, good job coming back and never giving up, you’ve earned this second chance.
